Oskar Dressler

Education

received MS and Ph.D degrees in computer science from the University of Bonn and the University of Hamburg.

Research

His research interests include qualitative reasoning, non-monotonic reasoning and model-based reasoning. The current focus is on model-based diagnosis and monitoring.

Industry

During his time at the Siemens Corporate Research Laboratories in Munich he developed generic software components and worked on applications in a variety of domains.

Dr. Dressler is a founder and managing director of OCC'M Software GmbH.

Professional Activities

Dr. Dressler has served on several international workshop and conference committees in the truth maintenance, non-monotonic reasoning, logic programming, abductive reasoning, deductive databases and model-based reasoning areas.

For the german computer science society he serves as speaker of the special interest group on diagnosis and classification.

Academia

Since 1992 he is a lecturer at the Technical University of Munich teaching courses on 'Truth Maintenance', 'Model-based Expert Systems' and 'Knowledge Representation'. At the fifth European Summerschool in Logic, Language and Information, ESSLI '93 in Lisbon, he taught a course on 'Consistency-based Diagnosis'.
